Some call it magic, others call it miraculous. It’s melamine … an amazing material that looks like a layered sponge and, when activated with water, mysteriously erases stains, smudges, and scuff marks without breaking a sweat or using any cleaning solution.
How does it do it? The magic is in the physical composition of the melamine material. It has an open-cell foam construction with a hard, polymeric component that acts like extremely fine sandpaper, getting into tiny grooves and pits of the surface being cleaned.
The fine strands of the open cell melamine foam are harder than most stain materials and softer than most surfaces, so they remove the stains.
As the pad is rubbed against the surface and removes the stain, the melamine material wears off, much like a pencil eraser. Therefore, the polymeric strands are never dulled by the stain material they are picking up. The residue is easily rinsed off for a clean, fresh surface.
Melamine pads are ideal for quick cleaning of scuff marks on walls and baseboards, removing scum on shower doors, brightening white boards, cleaning stovetops, removing stains from countertops, and removing pen and crayon marks from walls and furniture.
Some tips for using melamine:
• Use plenty of water to moisten the melamine material.
• Avoid hard twisting and squeezing of the material. Press evenly between your hands to extrude water.
• Cutting into smaller pieces won’t sacrifice performance.
